Week 27 - A New Perspective

I've been away, travelling, expanding my horizons, and according to William Maddux and Adam Galinsky, improving my imagination and creativity as well.

Travel and/or living abroad changes your brain. It alters the way you think by exposing you to new experiences, languages, and sights. This in turn, improves creativity and imagination according to this STUDY, check it out.

What do you want your life to look like? This was a question I heard during our trip to Sweden that totally resonated with me. Good question. Whether you're starting out, mid career, or just retired, it's an important question to ask yourself.

I want to experience new things, form new ideas, value experiences over possessions, live outside my comfort zone. But most of all, I want to squeeze every drop of creative thought from this increasingly ageing mind before my time here is done. Am I brave enough? Time will tell.

What I've Been Creating

Here's a few sketches from my recent trip to Sweden. As much as I'd love to dig in for some serious plein air painting while traveling, sketching seems to be the best solution to my, "gotta create" addiction while visiting family abroad.

  • Thanks for the look inside your travelling creative side. I’m away to the Okanagan for 2 months and although I tried to bring my usual basic acrylics, I think I will stick to your lead and sketch and whatever is less complicated. So thanks again for experience and example.
Ogo Pogo or whatever is Okanagan for “cheers!”
